Mercy flight volunteer opportunities recruits volunteer pilots to provide flights for people who are ill. Most flights are made within a 1000 mile radius of the pilot's home base airport; occasionally arrangements can be made for transportation over longer distances and it may take 2 to 3 aircraft for a long flight.
