Wellness Programs
Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH - ANTELOPE VALLEY WELLNESS COMMUNITY
The center provides mental health services for people of all ages in the Antelope Valley area. Services include substance use disorder education/prevention, peer support and wellness programs. This is a Connecting to Opportunities for Recovery and Engagement (CORE) center. There are no geographic restrictions.
Wellness services include exercise classes, health education, activities workshops and mental health support. Healing workshops and trauma prevention services are also available. Health navigators are available to provide information and referral for food and housing, financial assistance, legal care, employment and more.
CORE centers provide a welcoming environment where individuals can ask questions about substance use disorders and get connected to prevention and treatment services. Services include prevention information and workshops on topics such as preventing teen substance abuse and vaping, understanding substance use disorders and treatment services, and recognizing signs of relapse; peer-to-peer support; and referrals for additional services.
Training on how to administer medication (naxolone) to reverse an opioid overdose may also be available.
