Juvenile Probation

The agency provides correctional programs for juveniles in Los Angeles County. Services include juvenile delinquency prevention services and juvenile probation. Services are restricted to Northeast Central Los Angeles.

The facility includes two departments of the juvenile division of the Superior Court, as well as representatives of the Probation Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles City Schools, the Public Defender, District Attorney, and the Los Angeles County Clerk.

The center attempts to decrease the time involved in processing an arrested minor as well as the time before a minor's case is heard in court. Individual cases are investigated and reviewed by a panel of law enforcement, probation, and school representatives. In some cases the minor may be diverted to a community agency program for assistance; in others, a petition is filed in Juvenile Court by the District Attorney, and the case is heard at the center.

Services are also provided for juveniles who have not been arrested but are referred to the center by schools, other community agencies, or parents.

The center serves the general area bounded by Griffith Park and Eagle Rock on the north; the Los Feliz and Silverlake areas on the west; Commerce on the south boundary; and East Los Angeles, El Sereno and Highland Park on the east.
