Home Sanitation
The Environmental Health Division is a regulatory agency with five branches that provide services related to public health issues in Los Angeles County. Services include inspections or investigations for compliance with health and safety requirements. Services are restricted to Los Angeles County, excluding the incorporated cities of Long Beach, Pasadena and Vernon.
The District Inspection branch enforces public health laws at restaurants and food facilities, pet food stores, food warehouses, licensed housing and swimming pools, theaters and self-service laundries.
The Community Protection branch focuses on injury and disease transmission between people and their environment. It assesses, monitors and controls factors including environmental hygiene, outbreaks, cannabis and medical marijuana, community health issues, and rental housing habitability.
The Specialized Food Inspection branch provides plan checks and safeguards specialized food services and food safety, mobile and home-based food facilities, and community events and farmers markets.
The Environmental Protection branch focuses on lead poisoning prevention, water pollution and control, and solid waste management. The agency also provides public awareness and education for children with lead poisoning.
The Division Support branch provides administrative support to the agency.

The agency's website www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/eh provides listing of restaurant rating and closures, and list of recalled food items. Complaints may be reported online.
