Central Intake/Assessment for Drug Use Disorders

The agency provides substance use disorder services for homeless individuals age 18 and older in downtown Los Angeles. Services include AIDS prevention supplies for injection drug use disorders, central intake/assessment for substance use disorders, comprehensive outpatient alcohol use disorder treatment programs for homeless people, comprehensive outpatient drug use disorder treatment programs for homeless people, and specialized information and referral. Central intake and assessment services are available to all adults. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Center for Harm Reduction provides substance abuse assessments, a needle exchange program and a wound clinic for injection drug abusers; referrals for additional treatment are also available. The site also offers a wellness program which gives homeless individuals a safe and healthy environment in which to spend time.
The Syringe Exchange program (NE) provides AIDS prevention supplies for injection drug abusers. The program includes distribution of clean needles and other supplies, overdose prevention education and training, distribution of Narcan, wound care, and case management. The needle exchange program is offered at the Bay Area Addiction Research and Treatment - Beverly (see the separate entry) and the Center for Harm Reduction in downtown Los Angeles.
This county Community Assessment Service Center (CASC) provides central intake/assessment for alcohol and/or drug abuse. Staff use an automated assessment tool to determine addiction severity and screen the participant's eligibility for specifically funded county-contracted alcohol and drug programs. Supportive services may include substance abuse education, vocational rehabilitation, transportation and referrals to other community services.
The Integrated Treatment Program (ITP) provides comprehensive alcohol use disorder and drug use disorder treatment programs, for homeless individuals with substance use disorder and mental health issues, age 18 and older in Los Angeles County. The treatment program includes case management, assessment, diagnosis, medication, and therapy, childcare, health care, substance abuse treatment, mental health (by and MD and other mental health professionals) and specialized information and referral.
