Special Events (African American Community)

This is a state museum which collects, studies and exhibits information about the history, arts and culture of African-Americans in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, with primary emphasis in the Western U.S. and California. The exhibitions and program focus on contributions to the arts, humanities, sciences, politics, religion and sports. The program includes films, lectures, a quarterly newsletter, educational packets and gallery tours for students, crafts and educational workshops for adults and children, and special dance, music, theatre arts and multi-media performances for anyone who wants to attend throughout the year.

Call for information or walk in for service; reservations are required for tours. 

Fees

There is no entrance fee to the museum. Call for guided tour information and fees. Parking is available at Exposition Park for a $20 fee, $25 for after 5;00pm; cash only during museum hours.
