Food Stamps/SNAP Applications

Provider: CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF LOS ANGELES - ST. MARGARET'S CENTER

The agency provides CalFresh application assistance. There are no geographic restrictions. Los Angeles Regional Foodbank staff will meet in person with the applicant to determine eligibility and to apply for the CalFresh food program. This program was formerly known as Food Stamps and federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank staff provides application assistance.

Application Procedure
Call for an appointment. People are asked to bring documentation, including ID, proof of income and proof of residence. A Social Security number is required for each family member.

CalWORKs recipients are automatically eligible to receive CalFresh; GR recipients are usually eligible. SSI recipients are eligible and some undocumented people are eligible. Immigrant adults who were in the United States before August 22, 1996 are eligible to receive state-funded CalFresh; immigrants who arrived in the United States after September 30th, 2000 may be eligible until if they can demonstrate that their sponsor is abusive, disabled or deceased.
