Recreational/Leisure/Arts Instruction

The department provides recreational activities for people of all ages who live, primarily, in Whittier. People from any area may participate. In addition, it maintains a number of parks including some which have trained recreation leaders, picnic tables and play areas, and sports fields. Services include classes in art, crafts, cooking, dance, drama, music, parenting, safety, tennis, tumbling, and yoga; physical fitness programs including prenatal fitness; sports programs in basketball, baseball, and volleyball.

The recreational and social activities for seniors are coordinated with the Whittier Senior Citizen's Center.
