Parent Child Interactive Therapy

The agency provides child abuse services for children and adolescents in the Long Beach area. Services include child abuse counseling, infant and early childhood mental health, sexual assault counseling, and developmental screening. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Developmental Screening program, for children age zero to five, is administered by a multi-disciplinary team in the clinic setting, client's home, or preschool location. Parents are then provided with the results and recommendations for further services and/or offered education in strategies in working with their child on their skills deficits.
Treatment services include outpatient mental health services, infant/early childhood mental health consultations, individual therapy, family therapy, play-based therapy, Dyadic therapy, medication services, community outreach and parenting education.
Staff also provide medication and monitoring, and community outreach.
Staff are trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Incredible Years (IY) general, IY Babies, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) provides services for children 2 to 8 years old with serious behavior problems like aggressiveness, defiance, temper tantrums and oppositional behavior. This is a 15 to 20 week program.
There are also therapy services available for children who have been physically neglected, sexually abused, or have witnessed domestic or community violence.
Secondary services that the agency provides to its existing clients include parent education and support groups.

Call to apply; an appointment is required.
Fees
There are fixed fees for services; Medi-Cal, private insurance and Victim's Compensation Program funds are accepted. Grant funds may be available to eligible participants. No one is turned away due to inability to pay.
