The agency provides victims of crime support services for individuals throughout the State of California. Services include hate crimes reporting, case/care management, community action/social advocacy groups, consumer complaints, crime prevention, crime victim/witness counseling, discrimination assistance, general legal aid, family law, landlord/tenant assistance, law endorcement services, support groups, supportive therapies, specialized counseling services, and urgent care centers. There are no geographic restrictions.
The agency establishes policies and approves programs, and monitors and reports on hate crimes.
California law protects individuals based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, primary language, citizenship, immigration status, mental disability, physical disability, sex and gender (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, political affiliation, and position in a labor dispute.
