Crime Victim/Witness Counseling

Provider: HOPICS - TRAUMA RECOVERY CENTER

The center provides victims of crime support for people of all ages in Los Angeles county. Services include crime victim/witness counseling and support for people who have experienced or witnessed emotional abuse, physical and sexual assault, hate crimes, human trafficking and other crimes; elder abuse counseling, sexual assault counseling and spouse/intimate partner abuse counseling. Youth age 14 and older can be seen without parental consent. Victims of Crime Compensation is available. There are no geographic restrictions.

Crimes must have occurred in California and the victim or witness must have suffered physical or emotional injury; be in immediate physical or emotional danger; or witnessed a death threat as a result of the crime.

Victims of Crime Compensation eligibility requires that individuals:

- Apply within three years of the crime OR prior to their 21st birthday (if under 18) OR prior to their 28th birthday for specified sexual offenses committed against minors. - Not have been involved in the events leading up to, or have participated in the crime. - Demonstrate willingness to comply with the police department and judicial system.
