Domestic Violence Shelters
Provider: WOMEN'S TRANSITIONAL LIVING CENTER INC - RADIANT FUTURES
The program provides a battered women's shelter program for battered people with or without children, including people who are hearing impaired; single men and men with children are accepted on a case-by-case basis. The program primarily serves people who live in Orange County, however, people from other areas may apply and are assisted, if possible. Children who are younger than age 18 are eligible to live in the shelter with their mother. There is no limit to the number of children who may live with their parent. The program will accept people with substance abuse problems. The program cannot accommodate people who have severe physical or mental disabilities that would interfere with their participation in shelter activities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Adults 18 years and older who have been physically and/or emotionally battered and their children who need to be in a safe, supportive environment may apply for the shelter program. In addition to a secure setting, the shelter provides individual and group counseling; advocacy with other agencies, if needed; a children's program; assistance in obtaining a TRO; and assistance in making future plans. Participants may remain in the shelter program for as long as 90 days. Clients must remain within the shelter for the first 72 hours after intake for their own safety and to acclimate to the shelter.
