Public Awareness/Education

The program provides domestic violence/human trafficking services for people who live in Southern California. Services include domestic violence hotlines, outreach programs for victims of human trafficking, public awareness/education, spouse/domestic partner abuse counseling, spouse/domestic partner abuse prevention, temporary restraining orders and volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

The hotline provides information about domestic violence and referral to related medical, legal, counseling and support resources for victims of domestic violence, their significant others and for the public. The hotline also provides telephone support and crisis counseling, and serves as the intake point for the shelter program and other programs of the shelter. PEP Classes-Personal Empowerment Program classes are also available.

The agency provides support groups for shelter residents and outreach support groups for domestic violence victims who have been battered who do not want or need a shelter program. The groups provide information and support and assist domestic violence victims and victims of human trafficking to make decisions and plans in a safe environment. Child care is provided during the meetings, which may be held at an outside location. The groups are not therapeutic in nature; they are conducted as peer support groups.

The agency also provides community education programs and volunteer opportunities for community groups about domestic violence and the needs of domestic violence victims and their families.
