Children's In Home Respite Care

The agency provides family support servcies for distressed famlies in the Greater Long Beach area. Services include children's respite care for youth to age 18. The program serves anyone, and a referral from DCFS is not required; social service agencies and schools usually refer. The program serves Long Beach and surrounding communities.
The agency also recruits and certifies families who can provide respite care by helping families with short-term assistance. This can range from a few hours of babysitting to several days or a week of care. Parents must provide an exit date.
The Safe Families for Children program provides temporary arrangements for children to stay with a certified host family during times of family crisis (i.e., sudden unemployment, loss of housing, domestic abuse, acute illness or hospitalization, substance abuse treatment, etc.). Families in the family court system will not loose their visitation rights or suffer any penalty for use of the respite program.
