Bus Fare (Homeless Youth)

Provider: NATIONAL RUNAWAY SAFELINE

The program provides runaway services for youth ages 12 through 21, and their families nationwide. Services include a 24-hour hotline, telephone crisis intervention, specialized information and referral to human services which assist young people, message delivery and conferencing services and volunteer opportunities. Free bus rides are provided via Greyhounds "Home Free" Program to qualified youth. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program maintains a resource file of youth-related services nationwide. Trained volunteers link callers directly with human services in their area through a conference call system. In addition, the agency provides a confidential message relay system for youth to contact their families and receive messages. Youth can make direct contact with their families through the conference call system. Specially trained volunteer staff mediate conference calls.
