Transitional Housing/Shelter (AIDS)

The agency provides shelter services for HIV positive/symptomatic families in Los Angeles County. Services include transitional housing/shelter. There are no geographic restrictions.
The program accepts two-parent families, single women and single men with children who have at least one family member that has tested HIV positive/symptomatic. People who receive public assistance are eligible for assistance. The length of stay is a maximum of two years in the transitional housing units. People who develop AIDS symptoms may stay in the program until hospice or hospital care is medically needed.
The facility includes both transitional and permanent housing. The program provides bedding, linen, laundry facilities, three nutritionally planned meals including snacks daily, and a full support program which includes case management and counseling services, health services, parenting classes, literacy and computer classes, employment assistance, recreational and social activities, money management classes, legal clinics and information and referral for other social or medical services as needed.

Application Procedure
Referring agencies call the Program Manager to schedule an interview. Proof of symptomatic HIV for at least one family member and TB test clearance for each family member are required; individuals must be actively working with a case manager from an organization at the time of application and actively seeking medical services. Each family member must be present at time of admission.
