Congregate Meals/Nutrition Sites

Provider: CITY OF MONTEREY PARK RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - LANGLEY SENIOR CENTER

The center provides services for older adults age 50 and older who live in Monterey Park. Services include case management, congregate meals, a mature driving program and recreational programs. There are age and geographic restrictions for some programs.

Case management is provided for frail elderly who need in-home support. A congregate meal is served for seniors, age 60 and older, provided by Intervale Senior Services (see the separate entry). Participants may choose from either a Chinese or American menu. Additional discount programs offered at the center include the sale of monthly MTA bus pass stamps.

A variety of classes are offered at the center and include arts and crafts, exercise, dance, bridge, conversational English and needlecraft. In addition, seniors may participate in a Mature Driver Improvement Course. Seniors who complete the course may be eligible for a premium reduction on their car insurance payments. On-going activities which are available for all seniors include billiards and ping pong; there are regularly scheduled events like dancing and bingo. In addition, trips and tours are often scheduled.
