Prejob Guidance

The agency provides employment services for people 18 years and older, including veterans, in Los Angeles County. Services include career change counseling, outreach programs, prejob guidance, and vocational assessment. There are no geographic restrictions.

Employment services for individuals are designed to help displaced, older and underemployed workers; and workers with disabilities find and retain jobs for themselves. Staff provide vocational assessment, mentoring, and career change counseling. Positions available include high voltage electricians, carpenters, plumbers, floor coverers, utility system operators (water treatment operators), roofers, painters, electricians and welders.

Career change counseling assists individuals in transitioning between careers.

Outreach programs target unemployed individuals to raise awareness of the programs available to them.

Prejob guidance focuses on resume building, interviewing skills and other aspects of job readiness.

Vocational assessment assists individuals with identifying potential careers for themselves by targeting areas of strength and aptitude.
