The agency provides counseling services for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, bereavement counseling, co-parenting workshops, divorce counseling, employment transition counseling, family counseling, general counseling services, helplines/warmlines for postpartum mothers, marriage counseling, mediation for couples, mental health evaluations, parent counseling, parenting/family support groups, perinatal/postpartum depression counseling and post disaster crisis counseling. There are no geographic restrictions.
The program provides individual, conjoint, family, and group counseling for people of all ages. The focus may include marital problems, family communication, parenting skills, parent-child conflict, adjustments of childhood or adolescence, step-parenting, divorce, aging, grief and bereavement, career concerns, life transitions, being single, postpartum depression, and post-disaster trauma.
The agency also offers a Family Life Education Program which provides workshops to assist participants to cope with life changes and transitions. In addition to counseling the agency provides divorce mediation for people who want assistance to resolve issues like custody and visitation cooperatively.
The agency offers a parenting support group for Spanish-speaking mothers of children 10 years and younger. Topics may include self-esteem, setting limits, health and relationships. The groups meet at an offsite location and childcare is provided free of charge for participants.
Postpartum counseling for women who are experiencing maternal depression is available through the New Moms Connect program. The program offers a warmline/talkline staffed by trained volunteers who can provide support, education and referrals. In addition the agency provides weekly Moms' support groups to support new mothers.
