Adolescent/Youth Counseling

Provider: CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH - COLLEGE OF EDUCATION - COMMUNITY CLINIC FOR COUNSELING AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

The clinic provides counseling services for children, adolescents and adults who live in Los Angeles County. Services include developmental assessment, individual counseling, youth/adolescent counseling, special education assessment and redmedial education. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

Services are provided during the academic school year; clients are enrolled during the fall, spring and summer semesters.

Individual counseling for adults may focus on topics including as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relational concerns, self-esteem and traumatic stress. 

Counseling is available for youth ages 6 through 17; sessions may be in person or via telehealth. Topics may include self esteem, friendship or peer concerns, stress and anxiety, depression and motivation, anger management and academic performance.

For educational, psychoeducational or remedial assessment, the child must be at least one year behind in reading and/or math; school records are required.

Call to apply; an intake appointment is required. Admittance is on a first come, first served basis and depends on level of need. There may be a wait list.

Fees

Counseling fees are $20 per session, 3 sessions minimum. Other services include set, one-time fees for various program lengths; call for information. Scholarship applications are available to individuals and families.
