Disaster Specific Rent Assistance (Tenants)

The agency provides disaster specific rent assistance targeted for tenants in Los Angeles County. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Emergency Rent Relief Program provides financial assistance to qualifying residents impacted by financial hardships including the Eaton and Palisades fires. The program provides up to six months of rent or mortgage debt or a maximum award of $15,000 per rental unit.
Eligible residents include, tenants and landlords with unpaid rent or other eligible expenses for properties in Los Angeles County, including those impacted by the the January 2025 wildfire events or any other emergency financial hardships. Additional eligibility includes displaced homeowners that have been displaced due to the January 2025 wildfire events and have unpaid rent in their current rental homes and exhausted FEMA/insurance rental support.
Round 2 of applications allows tenants to begin the process by applying through the LA County Rent Relief website. Applications open Monday, February 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and close Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 4:59 p.m.
