Provider: PEOPLE ASSISTING THE HOMELESS
The agency provides a job readiness program for single adults, couples, men with children and women with children who are homeless, and homeless veterans. The program will accept people who are non-citizens, however they must have documentation of legal right to work in the United States. The program will also assist veterans. To be eligible, the applicant must meet low-income criteria, be employable, and have 30 days sobriety. There are no geographic restrictions.
The PATHFinders Job and Career Center program is a job-readiness program for homeless adults 18 years and older.The program provides pre-employment counseling; job preparation skills such as resume and interview techniques; job search skills; use of agency computers and copiers for resume preparation; use of the agency's address and telephone for job interview contacts; and a job board and newsletter, PATHWorks!, for local employment. The staff includes a job developer who canvases local businesses for jobs and inputs the leads in a job bank. Each applicant meets with the job developer as part of the program.
Specific staff is available for veterans who need assistance. Services for veterans include employment counseling, job search/placement, transportation assistance including bus passes and tap cards, skills workshops, connection to vocational training programs, clothing and personal care, and referrals to other services such as health care or substance abuse treatment.
