Weatherization Programs

The program provides home improvement services through the Energy Savings Assistance Program (ESA) and residential energy/water conservation rebates programs for residential customers in Southern California Edison service area.

ESAP is a one-time program that helps income-qualified households conserve energy and reduce their electricity costs. SCE pays all the costs of purchasing and installing energy-efficient appliances and equipment, which are free to eligible customers.

To qualify for ESA Program services, an SCE customer must receive electric service through a residential electric meter in SCE's service territory; have an active SCE residential service account or be submetered under a master-meter SCE residential account; meet the program eligibility requirements and meet income qualifications. The program is available to both homeowners and renters. Renters must obtain the homeowner's permission.

The program has three stages: Outreach and Assessment; Service Delivery and Installation; and Inspection.

Currently, the ESA program offers the following services to qualified customers: air conditioner replacement or evaporative cooler (swamp cooler); pool pump replacement; outdoor fixture replacement; compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs); and weatherization services.

For the residential energy/water conservation rebates programs the agency provides rebates and savings on appliances; heating and cooling; lighting; pool; multifamily housing for property owners and managers; mobile homes; home upgrade projects; solar leadership; and customer generation.

Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) is a State of California program that offers rebates for installing energy storage technology at both homes and non-residential facilities. These storage technologies include battery storage systems that can function during a power outage. SCE Electric Portable Power Station Rebate provides residential customers who live in an area designated as a Tier 2 or Tier 3 high fire risk area can receive up to five (5) $150 rebates for purchasing qualified Electric Portable Power Stations, per residential address. Electric Portable Power Stations can also power your Wi-Fi router for continued access to the internet depending on internet service provider.
