The company provides information and assistance related to Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events in Los Angeles County. Services include energy information services, electric service providers for low income individuals who are experiencing a power outage, residential energy/water conservation rebates and residential energy/water conservation systems/devices for low income households. There are no geographic restrictions; however, some services are targeted to residents who live in areas designated as high fire-risk by Southern California Edison (SCE).  

  When there is a high risk for a wildfire, SCE may temporarily shut off power to certain neighborhoods to prevent the electric system from becoming the source of ignition.

  To sign up for PSPS alerts specific to your address, visit https://scepsps.com/ SCE programs to help prepare for PSPS events may include hotel discounts for customers experiencing an extended outage; solar installation for income-qualified customers; rebates for personal and business self-generation; and rebates for portable power stations and generators.

  The Critical Care Backup Battery (CCBB) Program offers a free portable backup battery to eligible participants of the SCE Medical Baseline Program who are also enrolled in the CARE or FERA discount program and live in a SCE designated "high fire risk" zone. The program also includes a solar panel kit for additional charging capability.  

Critical Care Backup Battery Program Eligibility:

• Must be SCE customer enrolled in Medical Baseline program.

• AND must live in a high fire risk area (see link to high fire threat map in program description).

• AND require the regular use of electrically powered medical equipment or another qualifying

medical device.

SCE Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP): Offers rebates and incentives to eligible residential and business customers who generate their own power. These systems are designed to offset your energy use and work as backup batteries to provide power for your home when an outage or a PSPS occurs. 

Rebate Generator Program Eligibility:

• Must live in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 high fire risk area

SGIP Program Eligibility:

• Must live in a Tier 2 or 3 High Fire Threat District OR have experienced two or more utility

Public Safety Power Shut-offs (PSPS).

AND ONE of the following additional criteria:

• You live in multifamily deed-restricted housing or a single-family home subject to resale

restrictions,

• Eligible for the utility Medical Baseline Program,

• You have notified your utility of serious illness and/or life-threatening condition.

• Have received or reserved other solar-related incentives (including SASH, DAC-SASH,

MASH, or SOMAH programs).

• Home relies on electric pump wells for water AND household meets low-income

qualifications,
