Residential Energy/Water Conservation Rebates

The program provides home improvement services through the Energy Savings Assistance Program (ESA) and residential energy/water conservation rebates programs for residential customers in Southern California Edison service area. 

ESAP is a one-time program that helps income-qualified households conserve energy and reduce their electricity costs. SCE pays all the costs of purchasing and installing energy-efficient appliances and equipment, which are free to eligible customers. The program is available to both homeowners and renters. Renters must obtain the homeowner's permission. 

To qualify for ESA Program services, an SCE customer must:

  • receive electric service through a residential meter in SCE's service territory
  • have an active SCE service account
  • reside in a single-family home or mobile home (residences with four or fewer units are considered single-family homes)
  • meet appliance or replacement/installation requirements for each service
  • meet income qualifications  

Currently, the ESA program offers the following basic offerings to qualified customers (some services may not be available in all areas):

  • lighting
  • smart power strip
  • refrigerator replacement
  • smart thermostat installation
  • thermostatic shower valve/showerhead installation
  • clothes washer replacement
  • dishwasher replacement
  • freezer replacement
  • heat pump water heater replacement
  • pool pump replacement
  • cooling such as evaporative cooler installation or evaporative cooler maintenance
  • weatherization services

Additional Basic Plus offerings may be available for qualified households, including:

  • cooling such as window or wall AC replacement
  • central AC or central heat pump replacement
  • portable AC installation
  • HVAC filte

Residential rebates and incentives may vary throughout the year and include:

  • home electrification
  • AC
  • smart thermostats
  • electric heat pump water heaters and gas water heaters
  • HVAC
  • portable power stations and generators
  • electric vehicles
  • home area networks (HAN)
